Does DivineUnity believe in sin?

The original meaning of sin was simply to “miss the mark” of spiritual perfection.

We teach that "sins" are mistakes and that anyone can turn away from making mistakes and begin doing things differently. We believe that "as we sow, so shall we reap", meaning that our sins have consequences and these consequences are not arbitrary. There are Universal Laws underlying the universe and when we stay in alignment with these laws, we are successful, if we violate these laws, there are negative results. Thus we teach it is best to live consciously, through compassion and "love God with all your heart and soul, and love your neighbor as yourself."

We teach that there is a Universal Mystical Law of Cause and Effect. The fact that there are consequences or "punishment" for our mistakes does not lend any credence to the belief in an evil power in the Universe. "Punishment" is simply the effect of the cause we have placed in action.

We are not punished for our sins but by them.
